Understanding Dental Bridges

Missing teeth can be replaced with a bridge, which is a permanent solution that does not require removal or cleaning like removable prosthetic devices. Each bridge is custom-made for the patient, ensuring a natural and authentic appearance. Fixed bridges can last for many years before needing to be replaced entirely.

Why do you need a dental bridge?

If you have a tooth missing and wish to avoid dental implant surgery or are ineligible for it, consider getting a dental bridge as an excellent alternative. A dental bridge not only helps restore the appearance and functionality of your smile but also prevents neighboring teeth from shifting or overcrowding.

Who Is A Candidate For A Dental Bridge?

Our dental team will evaluate your teeth to determine if a fixed bridge is appropriate for you. To ensure a precise fit and secure placement, the bridge will be placed over two neighboring teeth. Generally, larger bridges tend to be less stable. If we discover that the bridge alone may not offer enough stability, we may recommend using implants to support it.

What occurs during the dental bridge procedure?

To start, we'll numb your mouth with a local anesthetic for comfort. Then, we'll shape and file nearby teeth to make room for the new bridge. Impressions will be taken for a temporary and permanent bridge. You'll leave with the temporary bridge and return for a second appointment to get the permanent one. We'll remove the temporary bridge, securely place the permanent one, and make any necessary adjustments. We'll also give you instructions on how to care for the bridge.
